I spent my summers in Morocco. My aunt Latifa taught me to shower the way she did.

A Chebka, a hand sewn shower net, worked over wet skin until it comes off new. And not as a treatment. Every day. It was just how you got clean.

I'd come out radiant. Not just smooth. Confident, in a way I couldn't explain and couldn't reproduce anywhere else.

Then I'd come home to America, and there was nothing like it. Not the product, not the habit, not the feeling. A shower here was four minutes and a bar of soap. A shower in Morocco was somewhere I got to pour into myself and feel the most confident.

Pure Maroc is the two of us bringing it over. Latifa hand sews our Chebkas in Morocco, alongside the artisans she works with. I'm in California. The woman who taught me this is the woman who makes it.

Everyone outside Morocco knows the hammam. Almost nobody knows what's in an ordinary Moroccan shower.
